What to Expect From Your First Therapy Session
Walking in for the first time is usually the hardest part — everything after tends to feel more ordinary than people expect. Here’s roughly what happens.
We start with the practical stuff — what brought you in, what you’re hoping is different in a few months, any history that’s useful for me to know.
There’s no script after that. It’s a conversation, not an interview — you talk about what feels relevant, and I ask questions that help me understand your situation.
Toward the end, we talk about what a good fit looks like and what the next few sessions might focus on — together, not decided for you.
You don’t need to have the right words prepared, and you don’t need to have it figured out before you arrive. That’s what the sessions are for.
